Since we cannot easily overcome these obstacles we need to address the issues of popularity and unpopularity in the group and support the leaders of these groups in a way that there will be the necessary understanding of the discrepancies between group members and the action needed to ensure a continuously and uninterrupted performance at a high level.
People will see a leader as the person in charge and accept the position this person has in an organization. Popularity on the other hand will be needed to ensure that the majority of the group has a person to discuss issues not necessarily work related, yet important for the individual. Since we can see that these two activities do not necessarily have to be the same person we can accept the fact that group activity and performance will improve as long as the stability inside the group is ensured. Today it is not important to create a power structure, yet to build competitive advantage which depends not only on one person, yet more likely on complete teams or an organization in total.
We have to understand the importance of relationships between people in organizations to identify possible issues and to be able to readjust or to improve on these issues. As long as we can ensure that dimensions of inter-personal relationships can be addressed and weak points can be realigned and changed...
This way, it has become increasingly difficult to interrogate the characters of individuals one relates with. Indeed, in the words of Treadway and Smith (2012), "…it is very easy for people to set up a Facebook profile with any persona they would like." In addition, the number of acquaintances listed on Facebook may number in the hundreds, possibly even the thousands. On
In the current set of studies, we examine whether physiological arousal is a mediator of this effect. According to the Yerkes-Dodson (1908) theory of physiological arousal, performance is optimal at intermediate levels of arousal and decreases when arousal is either low or high, resulting in an inverted-U shaped function. We propose that stereotype threat may interfere with performance by leading to arousal that exceeds an optimal level." (Inzlicht &
